Can I make a Travelocity plane reservation then just show up with our grandbaby (under 2) and him travel free?
I looked it up through the exact airline and times and it would cost a lot more to do it that way than with Travelocity. But I don't see how on Travelocity to have your ticket note that you will have a baby with you. The airlines says on their site when you make your reservation to be to contact "Reservation/Sales" w to tell them you will have an infant traveling with you. But if your tickets is a Travelocity ticket maybe you could call that airline anyway before the flight leaves to tell them. I don't want to risk a ruined trip. Thanks.
You should either call Travelocity and have them book it or book with the airline directly. If you call the airline the day before the trip, they'll charge you the last-minute fare for the infant which is usually a lot more expensive than the regular fare. And if you just show up with the baby, they will deny him boarding. Since you have to pay for the baby anyway, you should get an infant seat fare and not a lap baby. That way you can bring the car-seat in and put the baby in that. Lap babies are really not very safe if there is severe turbulence or an accident.

yeh i think you should book the ticket then call the airline and tell them before you go what you're doing. they shouldn't have a problem. and book a window seat and an aisle seat, that way if the whole plane isn't booked you can have the seat between you. and if somebody happens to get between you, they would be gald to switch seats to avoid being in between two people passing a kid back and forth.

You definitely need to contact the airline themselves directly, so they can add it into their systems.

I'm an airline reservations agent.
Also keep in mind you may need a "lap child ticket" if you are traveling international. The child still can sit on your lap, and the airfare is free, but you so have to pay the government taxes.
Other than that just call the airline and let them know. There are some seating restrictions with lap babies and it would be best to get that settled ahead of time. (mainly to do with the extra O2 mask.)
