If my Mexican National wife obtains residency here in the US, will she be free to travel to and from Mexico?

We have a house in Mexico, and I will be traveling quite a bit for my job. I’m a US citizen, and we both want freedom to travel back and forth without time limitations in either country.

YES.

As long as she is a legal permanent resident and has all required documentation, she can travel to Mexico. If she is on a Green Card, her time outside of the country can affect her eligibility to keep her Green Card and also will affect the time required for citizenship.

You and your wife (once she is legal in the country) can apply for admission into the SENTRI frequent traveler program. This is a U.S. program that allows low risk travelers between the U.S and Mexico to cross the border quickly.:

Yes, once she has her residency in the United States. Generally you will want to watch the time she is outside the United States – If it is too lengthy she can lose her residency status, and it can interfere with the time to before she can apply to become a U.S. citizen (three years as a Legal Permanent Resident, and married to you at the time). Of course you are probably aware of travel in Mexico as a non-citizen, and the times that various Mexican documents (FMT, FM3, FM2) allow.

If you are both eventually able to gain dual citizenship in the countries of each other it should become easier, with no time limitations…
