what is the name of the job where you travel the world taking pictures and you get paid for it?
i want to be a photographer as a career but travel the world taking pictures of nature, historical places and what not and then get paid for those pictures or even join a business who will pay for me to travel then i get paid for whatever pictures get sold
its this possible? i don’t know if this makes any sense really
thank you! help!
Unfortunately this is a very hard job to break into. In fact it’s a dieing job because magazines, newspapers, or any other companies that need photos from around the world can hire a photographer from that part of the world to take the photos. This is because of technology (digital cameras and internet). Fortunately there are places that still send people around the world.
Since you want to do this you should check into National Geographic. They have photographers that they still send around the world. The catch is you have to be extremely good in all genres of photography (landscape, portrait, nature, wildlife, etc…) and you have to have experience working on assignment. Basically you have to be known.
You may also want to practice up on your journalism. Because most of National Geographic’s photographers are journalist. In fact most magazines prefer or require you have an article with your photos for them to be published. But I’m sure you can still make it as a Nat. Geo photographer without journalism experience.
Good luck

That’s a nice goal. You could be a travel photographer (EX: Leisure magazine, National Geographic), adventure photographer (Outside magazine, Surf magazine), and, having perfected your skills, and established your reputation, work for Reuters news agency, or, perhaps, be invited to work at the Magnum Agency; where many of the famous photographers whose images you’ll come to know, worked.
How to do that; know exactly how your camera works, look for the most interesting angle for everything, develop your own style (based on personal creativity), have a goal to make each image the best, be patient, and be Determined.
Here are some pointers: value the opinion of your friends, but seek out the advice of professionals, have a reason to take each photograph you make; your brain is better than Any electronic/automatic camera setting, and, Don’t take photographs of your feet.
Equipment advice; buy the camera you can afford now, move up to one (a DSLR) that you can attach different lenses to, and buy the best lens you can afford, for the type of photography you like best.
Good luck.
